Springfield, Missouri (April 3, 2017) – The Better Business Bureau of Southwest Missouri held its annual Torch Awards for Ethics event on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the White River Conference Center.
Founded in 1994 by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, the national award-winning “educate and recognize” Torch Awards Program is the premier public recognition of organizations that intentionally pursue the highest standards of leadership character ethics and ethical enterprising. Our local Torch Awards for Ethics event honors Southwest Missouri companies that demonstrate the highest standards of ethical business practices. These companies generate high levels of trust among their employees, consumers, and their communities. The award embodies BBB’s mission of advancing marketplace trust.
Entries are evaluated by an independent panel of judges comprised of volunteer business and community leaders, based on criteria established by the BBB Center for Character Ethics advisory board.
The Torch Award is open to all for-profit businesses physically located within BBB of Southwest Missouri’s service area. Companies considered for this award were nominated by themselves or customers then submitted an official application which includes information about their customer service, ethics training, and marketplace history. Companies that have entered the Torch Award competition are judged in one of three categories based on their number of employees.
The finalists for the small business category (1 – 5 employees) were:
Winner: ACIS Computers
The finalists for the medium business category (6 – 20 employees) were:
Winner: Little Angels Learning Academy
The finalists for the large business category (21+ employees) were:
Winner: Branson Tourism Center
“BBB is honored to be able to recognize these fine businesses as leaders in ethical business practices,” said Jon Anfinson, president and CEO of BBB of Southwest Missouri.
